During my visit to the Johns Hopkins Library, I found this news article about a new portrait of Johns Hopkins.
I also found a radio play script from the Cavalcade of America Radio show on May 26, 1941. The radio play is about Johns Hopkins, his family and friends, and the love of his life his first cousin Elizabeth.
When Johns moved into Baltimore to work with his uncle Gerard T. Hopkins he became better acquainted with his first cousin Elizabeth. They fell in love with each other. Her father and the family's Quaker beliefs forbid them to marry. Both were very saddened by this and vowed never to marry another.
This play helps tell the story about Johns and Elizabeth. It stars Karl Swenson as Johns and Agnes Moorhead as Elizabeth (star of many movies and played the part of Endora on the TV show Bewitched)
Once we are in the Hopkins House, we hope to have an event where we perform this play.
