Hopkins Burial

There is a cemetery on the White's Hall property. We have hand-drawn plot maps showing a family cemetery off to the left side of the main house. We are unsure about who or how many people are buried there. According to some letters, we do know that Hannah Hopkins, Johns's mother is buried there. Most likely, Samuel Johns's father is buried there also. If and when we can get the property purchased, one of the first things we will do is have ground-penetrating radar used to find the graves, since there are currently no markers found on the property. There is a wonderful lady who is looking forward to doing this. She attempted to work with the current owner, but he did not respond to her emails or give her permission to do this on the property.

We know that Johns and a couple of his sisters are buried in Greenmount Cemetery in Baltimore. Pictures below show the simple marble stones that mark the graves, along with the original cemetery plot deed.

Other later generations of Hopkins family members are buried in a Hopkins fenced area in the cemetery at St. Stephens Episcopal Church on St. Stephens Church Road in Crownsville.
