Save our Community History

Welcome!

Whites Hall, the birthplace and childhood home of the great philanthropist, Johns Hopkins, has been sold. As our work comes to an end, we encourage you to check out "A Path to Peace" who have purchased the property.

Jim Lighthizer, Former County Executive

There is no question in my mind that the Johns Hopkins birthplace site is one of the most significant, historically important unprotected sites not only in Anne Arundel County but in the State of Maryland. The impact he had in helping create one of the world’s premier medical and academic institutions is remarkable. Additionally the example his family set in the 18th century in dealing with the institution of slavery and their support of the Union cause in the 19th century is  also significant. The opportunity to preserve this site for future generations to learn about our American history is something that we must accomplish. We will never have another opportunity quite like this in the Crofton community. We simply must preserve this special.
